Curious

Please look down at the bottom of the page and see what the hit number is. If you are #1000 please leave a comment and let me know who it is. Others are welcome to let me know as well.

I'm still new to this blogging stuff so the 1000 mark is a big deal to me. :)

A Call to All Equity Members

Its that time again... Election time!!

First of all... please vote. Even if you do not agree with the candidates I support please vote. Our union is run by the membership. Take an active part and vote. If you are unhappy with the way things are run, vote... dont just complain.

THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE AEA ELECTION...

Bullet Voting- Just because you can vote for more than one candidate in certain categories does not mean you have to. If there is a candidate you feel particularly strong about vote for only that candidate. While it does NOT give all of your votes to that person it doesn't give your other votes to other candidates.

Vote in All Regions- Just because you live in one reason does not mean you cant vote for candidates running in other regions. I live in the Eastern Region (DC to be more specific) and can and will vote for candidates in the Central and Western Regions.

CANDIDATES I AM ENDORSING...

I am only giving the names of the candidates I am choosing in categories that have multiple candidates. Many of the categories this year have two people running for two seats or one person running for one seat etc.

EASTERN REGION

Principal Five Year Term (Vote for no more than six)
  • James Ludwig (James is a very nice fellow with whom I have had many conversations about the election and our union)
  • Paige Price
Principal One Year Term (Vote for no more than one)
  • James Moye (I know he is the only one running but James works a great deal in the DC area and is a super guy. He was nominated for a Helen Hayes for 110 in the Shade at Signature Theatre and rumor has it he will be back in the DC area soon)

Chorus Five Year Term (Vote for no more than three)

CENTRAL REGION

Principal Five Year Term (Vote for no more than one)

  • Daniel Mooney (Daniel is in a "regional" area in the Central Region and understands how Council decisions effect those of us not in NY, LA or Chicago)

WESTERN REGION

Principal Three Year Term (Vote for no more than one)

New Project

Hey everyone!! I am now able to post some of the big news I mentioned before but there is still more to come.

One of the projects that I have been working on lining up is now official!! I am going to be the ASM for the Ford's Theatre production of Meet John Doe a new American musical.

You know how much I love new musicals and some of you know how much I have wanted to ASM again. I am very excited. The show is really great! I'm working with a director that I love to work with and I will be assisting one of the best stage managers in DC! I cant wait... I am going to learn so much!!

For more information about the show click on the picture in my schedule.

Another bit of good news... Jenny is going to be music directing My Fair Lady at Signature next year!!

The Day Lincoln Was Shot

So I had an interview today at Ford's Theatre... on the day Lincoln was shot. I have to admit that I have been thinking about it all day and have been online reading all about it. I found a picture of Ford's Theatre back in the day... I guess you could say that 10th street has changed a little.

I have never been to this website before but just from what I have seen today I know I will be back. These pictures are all from www.picturehistory.com.

Here is an interior shot of the theatre including the presidential box. This pic was taken a few days after the assassination. My hats are off to the historian's at Ford's. I looked at the picture and thought that this might have been a pretty recent picture. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Under the presidential box you can see the box that my dear friend Mr. Chris Bloch fell into during the brawl scene in Shenandoah!

Victory or Loss?

TAXES ARE DONE!!!

That's the good part. The down side is that we OWE!! We always do and its always so depressing doing taxes when you work in the arts.

I need to get an accountant. I will put it out there again. Anyone know a good accountant who handles artists??

Coming Up For Air

Yes, yes I know its been forever since I have posted. This is the first chance I have had to come up for air.

The Game of Love And Chance is now open and very funny!! (If you have seen it, please feel free to leave your comments on my schedule page!) We are now up and running and its going to be a great run. If any stage managers would like to shadow me, please let me know and we can make that happen.

Wednesday (my "day off") is going to be all about two things... 1) I have a 10am script meeting for the project at Arlington Mills and 2) TAXES!! I am sick of doing taxes and need to find a good accountant who does taxes for artists to help me out in the future. I am sure that there are all kinds of things I could and should be doing but don't know to. If ANYONE knows of someone, please send me their way!

That's all for tonight. Going to do some quick review hunting then off to bed!

A Really Great 1st Rehearsal

Today was the first official rehearsal at Arlington Mill. Over the past three weeks we did three workshops that were OK to Tepid but today was GREAT!

We started with some ensemble exercises to start building an ensemble. Lots of games and we are going to do a lot of improv to develop the script.

The original idea was to develop and write a script using some essays from the students as a jumping off point. These essays were amazing. I cant share a whole lot out of respect to my students but WOW... These are some amazing individuals!

Unfortunately I wont be able to be at the rehearsal on Wednesday because I will be in tech for Game of Love and Chance which is going really well BTW!

I have been SOO busy lately that I barely do anything but work and sleep. Been out a couple times but not that often. Jenny and I are both working at least 2 or 3 projects right now and we are wiped!!
