Good One From Mom

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror
where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.
1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to some one.
7. You are special and unique.
8 Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
10 When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
11 Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

Cowboy Kevin and Cowgirl Karen

"Uncle Jess really wants us to go to Oklahoma! Mommy says no way!"

Rest In Peace

This is mostly for real. Estelle Getty did have a work out video for senior citizens.
Obviously it wasn't to a Beyonce song... that's just for the remix.

Thank YOU for being a friend!!

EVERYONE NEEDS TO CHEER UP!!

Those who really know me well know that my number one pet peeve is a pessimist!

Nothing can ruin a room, a conversation, a mood like someone with a shitty attitude. I just don't see what fun life is if you are never happy with anything. What is the use of always walking around pissed at everything or everybody.

If you have never read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, I highly recommend it. Especially if you have a hard time being happy.

The Four Agreements are summarized below.

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word- Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally- Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions- Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
4. Always Do Your Best- Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I read this book in college and it changed my life. I have also found that if you don't constantly remind yourself of these four agreements you fall out of the practice of them. While I tend to lose the practice of some more than others number 2 is my favorite and the one that really rang true to me.

What I constantly remind myself is that you can only feel things that you allow yourself to feel. No one can MAKE you feel anything. If you feel guilt, it is because you allow yourself to, not because you are made to feel guilty. Anything you feel is because of you... not another person. When you make yourself immune to the opinions and actions of other you can truly feel what you need to feel.

Whats the point to this entry in my little blog?

---Cheer up! Surely there is always something to be happy about. If not, find a mental happy place or a "mood shifter." I have many but my main ones are Kevin and Karen.

---LAUGH, loud and often!

---Don't let others affect the way you feel. The actions, words and feelings of others have nothing to do with you. You did not cause them and you can not change them.

AFL-CIO Endorses Obama

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW: The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) is a voluntary federation of 56 national and international labor unions. Unions include Actors Equity Association and unions that represent Airline Pilots, Government Employees, Postal Workers and Educators.

With 10.5 million members from every walk of life, the AFL-CIO has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president.

Barack Obama’s record demonstrates he is a champion for working families and his proposals will improve life for generations of working people and our children. Barack Obama says, “Politics didn’t lead me to working folks; working folks led me to politics.” He was raised by a working mother and grandparents, worked as a community organizer in a Chicago neighborhood devastated by the closing of steel mills, fought for working families in the Illinois State Senate and earned a 98 percent AFL-CIO voting record as a U.S. senator. Barack Obama is not someone who just talks the talk—he walks the walk with working families, on picket lines, in organizing campaigns and in bargaining for a better life.

With his emphasis on what America once again can be, and his commitment to lead for all rather than the few, Obama has reinstilled hope for a better future and inspired millions of new voters.

If ever working families needed change we can believe in, it is now. Working families are struggling in an economy that works for the few, not the many. We’re squeezed by stagnant wages, soaring costs for health care, gas and food and the sellout of America’s middle class.

With 80 percent of the public saying our country is headed in the wrong direction, it’s time to turn around America. And the first step is electing Barack Obama.

This is a make-or-break election. We cannot afford to allow the destructive politics and policies of the Bush administration to continue. We need an economy that works for working families—with health care, good jobs, fair rules for global trade, a robust middle class and the opportunity for every worker to join a union and bargain for a better life.

Barack Obama will lead the change we need.
